The EKS company was founded in Sm?landsstenar in southern Sweden in 1945 by Carl-Gustav Ek, with the manufacture of metal buttons and ashtrays. 

At the beginning of the 1960's EKS started production of mechanical bathroom and kitchen scales and during the following 20 years the company developed into a multinational concern with sales worldwide.
