On April 29, Ming Fai Group was awarded the "Hong Kong Green Innovations Awards 2018" Certificate of Merit at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Acting Chief Executive, Mr. Cheung Kin Chung presented the award to Ms Tracy So, the Marketing Director of Ming Fai Group. The awards are based on the criteria of “Environmental Leadership”, “Environmental Planning and Performance” and “Partners Collaboration”. The awards are designed to recognize organizations with outstanding environmental performance in 15 different sectors.

Environmental protection is a global issue. The global environment has been damaged by the energy consumption, greenhouse gases and pollutants emitted by economic growth. “Energy saving and emission reduction” has become one of the major issues facing China. Ming Fai Group deeply perceives the importance of energy conservation and emission reduction for the current environment and future development, Ming Fai Group spares no effort in the road to green development.

Ming Fai Group has five production plants around the world, and is deeply aware that the consumption of non-renewable resources will bring irreversible and serious consequences to the environment. As a result, Ming Fai invested heavily in the development of environmentally friendly alternatives to non-renewable resources. As early as 2007, Ming Fai Group has applied starch-based bio-friendly materials to products such as toothbrushes and combs. Biodegradable additives such as PSM, ECOPURE, BIO-PET, etc. used in the product can quickly decompose the product in the soil environment, and the packaging uses stone paper and FSC paper to reduce environmental damage.

Ming Fai Group also cooperated with the ecofriendly brand Erutan and City University of Hong Kong, to help on the R&D formulation and the packaging design for a new product which is currently applying for patent protection – The plastic-free Erutan Shampoo Bar, to reduce the burden of resource consumption for the earth.

The Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence is organized by the Environmental Campaign Committee in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Department and the Advisory Council on the Environment, the Business Environmental Council, the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, the Hong Kong Chinese Importers' & Exporters' Association, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and the Hong Kong Productivity Council. It is co-organized by nine institutions and highly authoritative.

Ming Fai Group won this award again this year, which proves Ming Fai’s persistent efforts and significance on the road of environmental protection. In the future, Ming Fai will continue to adhere to the road of energy conservation, emission reduction and green development, and contribute to the strength of the enterprise.
